Aja Ottero
Hi everyone! My Name is Aja and I’m very excited to be supporting your family into bringing your sweet bebe earthside.
A little about me- I’m born and raised in Colorado; I love to travel, do anything outdoors, enjoy live music, and cook good plant based food! Fun fact: I own a Hair Salon in Downtown Englewood!
What brought me here:
I finished my doula program in early 2020, after finally following a lifelong calling to be doing this work. I have had a deep instinctual connection to babies and pregnant people for the better part of my life, a general intuition in or out of the womb. As a kid I wanted to be a Neonatal nurse - that was quite the mouthful for a young kid to share about!
I saw a great need for doulas to bring specialized support to LGBTQ families and the unique ways in which we begin our families. I'm honored to support my community in feeling 100% safe and comfortable in birthing spaces and have no roadblocks in advocating for their families. I am of course not limited to LGBTQ folks. I love supporting all birthing families no matter what the structure of your family looks like.
Being a doula has been an absolute dream come true.
I’ve had extra training in Hypno-birthing, Unmedicated births, Traumatic Birth Healing, and I get especially excited about the Biomechanics of birth. How our bodies move in conjunction with the pelvis as the baby is descending. How we keep progress moving as efficiently as possible by listening to and working with our bodies. How we can prepare our bodies and minds pre-baby.
I aim to provide you with the tools and education to achieve the birth you’re dreaming of, along with the strength and knowledge to pivot as birth does. I want you to feel confident in the ways you can stay autonomous in your body, and to advocate for exactly what you need. Doulas contain so many things in our bag of tricks. I will hold space emotionally and physically for both partners, help you connect and have unity between you and your baby(it is the first thing you get to do together and I think that’s so cool!) Set a comfortable, cozy, vibe in your birth room. Coach you throughout the process, while being your biggest fan every step of the way.
I feel grateful to serve and stand by you in these very special moments in your lives, let’s celebrate a new birthday together!

I knew I wanted to become a birth doula because I have always been passionate about human connection. I love stepping into a nurturing role and making sure people feel safe and loved. When we feel safe and loved, we in turn feel empowered to conquer whatever we are going through. Pregnancy and childbirth are beautiful, life changing journeys and I love being a part of it all. I find my passion in helping families welcome a new soul into
their world in the most positive, calming, and caring way. I love being able to bring out a natural strength in a birther and reminding them that they are resilient and capable.
Along with being a birth and postpartum doula, I also am a certified pre and postnatal yoga instructor and Reiki practitioner. I use both skills throughout labor along with massage, breathing techniques, aromatherapy, meditation and visualization, positioning, use of a birthing ball and other labor tools, music, the bathtub, crystals, and many other things. If you choose to breastfeed after labor, I also can help initiate skin to skin contact after birth and give you tips and tricks on starting the process of breastfeeding.
I will provide evidence-based knowledge on interventions that may arise during labor and delivery, help you facilitate communication with your healthcare providers, and be an advocate for you and your birthing preferences. I will be a powerful support system for you throughout the whole process.
A little bit about me: I love to spend time with Mother Nature. Hiking, camping, skiing, and traveling through the mountains or to the beach are things that really feed my soul and make me feel at home. I also love going to concerts and listening to any type of live music. I spend my free time practicing yoga, eating yummy food, and spending time with loved ones. I look forward to getting to know you better and supporting you through this beautiful time!
